Patrick Macaulay presents Typographic, Urban and Americana Art

A unique opportunity to see Patrick’s work in one location. 2022NQ is the ideal urban setting for over 30 pieces ranging from ‘Tf hell’ (an expressive London Underground sign!) to ‘Some words hurt’ (hand crafted typography on reclaimed timber) to ‘Uncle Sam’s kinda tired and weary’ (a huge hand painted, distressed US flag on hessian).

Patrick’s work is strongly influenced by his early career as a compositor arranging type for print. He uses hand-crafted wooden letters to create individual art pieces or uses wooden letters as stencils to create typographic images.

While Patrick’s work is predominantly related to letter forms it is also heavily influenced by street art, faded lettering on old buildings and worn or damaged signage and street advertising. He uses reclaimed timber as his canvas adding rusted metal and using enamel paint to create urban art that lends itself to be viewed either indoors or outdoors.

Many of Patrick’s pieces can be classed as Americana; he has travelled extensively within the USA and has a love of American roots/Hillbilly music and sounds.

Viewings will be accompanied by tracks from Patrick’s personal music collection.
Private viewing: Fri 4th Oct from 6pm.
Further viewings: Sat 5th Oct 12noon – 4pm; Tues 8th to Thurs 10th Oct 12pm – 5pm.
